Thailand and TAT reap bounty of Chinese awards for 2020

Bangkok, 22 December, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to review the multiple awards Thailand and TAT have received from prestigious institutions and influential media in China during 2020.

The TAT Beijing office was awarded the ‘Tourism Marketing Content Award 2020’, for its continuation and effectiveness on tourism promotion activities in 2020, at The World Explores 2020 event organised by Mafengwo, China’s renowned online travel platform with 120 million active users per year and over 30 million-page views per day. Mafengwo is recognised as the ‘Travel Bible for the Young Generation’ of Chinese as 65% of its users are between 18-35 years old.

Bangkok, 09 December, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is delighted to report that Thailand’s reputation as one of the world’s leading honeymoon destinations continues to grow after the kingdom was named ‘Best Honeymoon Destination’ in Travel + Leisure India & South Asia annual ‘India’s Best Awards 2020’.

In the publication’s Readers’ Choice online voting, Thailand was identified as a ‘must-experience’ honeymoon destination for 2021.

Twelfth Annual Responsible Thailand Awards recognises champions of sustainable travel

Bangkok, 09 December, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced the winners of the 12th Responsible Thailand Awards recognising the Kingdom’s champions of sustainable tourism in the Marine and Nature, Community-based Tourism, Animal Welfare, Eco Accommodation and New Green Steps categories.

The six winners include: Marine & Nature Winner – Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort (for its Marine Discovery Centre); Community-based Tourism Winner – Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary; Animal Welfare Winner – Samui Elephant Sanctuary; Eco Lodge / Hotel Winner – Koh Jum Beach Villas; Hotel Winner – Khaolak Merlin; and Green Steps Winner – Nutty’s Adventures.

Thailand is the Number 1 Asian destination for travellers planning holidays in 2021

Bangkok, 04 December, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that Thailand was named the number one Asian destination, and the fourth destination worldwide, according to a recent survey by German-based online travel agent Tourlane.

In a survey to identify travel trends that are emerging for 2021, it found that Thailand was the fourth most popular worldwide destination named by respondents, after the USA, South Africa, and Canada.
